PSYCHOTHERAPY & CONSULTATION

FAQ

F_Image_1 How can I schedule an appointment?
A1 - See Contact Me for information. I can be reached at 207-807-8911 and will return phone calls primarily during daytime hours. Please make sure to leave your name, phone number where you can be reached during daytime hours, and any relevant information that you believe would be useful in having me know ahead of time.
F_Image_2 Do you take insurance?
A2 Yes, I am currently a provider for several insurance companies and offer a private pay option as well. If you choose to use your insurance, be sure to contact your provider to see if your benefits include counseling, and if I am listed as "in-network" with your company or if you have an option for out-of-network benefits as well.
F_Image_3 What is the self-pay charge for therapy?
A3. I charge $150 per session (typically 50 minutes) for individual psychotherapy sessions, skills coaching, or consultations. Therapy may also be scheduled for an extended session as needed on a prorated basis. I do have a limited number of sliding scale slots for individuals; feelfree to ask if you qualify for one of these. Clients may choose a private pay option if preferred initially or switch to self-pay when EAP or insurance benefits have run out. Fees which are generally not covered by insurance include travel time to meet with a student at school or alternative location and charges for sessions which are missed or cancelled with less than 24 hours notice.

F_Image_4 What happens once we schedule an appointment?
A4 After we connect and decide to meet (virtually or in-person), I will send you a contact and information form to fill out and return, as well as an Office Policies form with HIPPA information. If you plan to use insurance, you will also be asked to send a copy of both sides of your insurance card. When we do meet, we will have the chance to discuss your specific situation, what difficulties you've encountered, what has been helpful in the past and what has not, as well as what you'd most like support with at this time. We will both be able to ask questions and discuss options so that by the end of our first meeting, we will be able to decide on a plan about if and how best to work together in meeting your goals.
F_Image_5 What are your hours?
A5. I schedule regular appointments weekdays between 9-4PM with flexibility for scheduling during lunchtime or early mornings. I also have limited availability during early evening hours. Check with me if you have time restrictions to see if there are times available to fit your schedule.

F_Image_6 How long does therapy take?
A6. This is highly individual, as it depends on your specific circumstances, struggles and wishes. Clients who need specific short term help through a crisis may benefit tremendously from as few as 4-6 sessions; others who are looking to heal from abuse, improve mood and functioning may benefit from counseling support for several months or longer. You will have the ability at all times to fine tune your goals and redirect the course of your therapy to meet your specific time frames and needs.

F_Image_7 Do you offer telehealth and remote services?
A7: Yes, I offer psychotherapy telehealth services to clients who are located in Maine and Vermont; this includes zoom and telephone sessions to meet individual needs. I will need to meet new clients either through zoom or in-person for at least the first several sessions before being able to switch to telephone only in order for us to get to know each other better. Consultations and other skills coaching requests from clients who are located in ME, VT, and other areas are also available through zoom and telephone sessions.
